Lauren Careese Alexander is a mixed media artist and illustrator who received her Master’s in Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University in 2024 and her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2021.

Lauren considers herself to be a “Mearcstapa”, also known as a “border-walker” or “margin-stepper”, as she walks the borders between being half Black and half White as well as being a fine artist and an illustrator. Her work is a balance of her faith and spirituality, identity, and love of comic books, cartoons, and story telling.
